Scratch that, there’s one kind of post that didn’t restore attachments right. need to make a quick adjustment.

It looks like they’re there now, under “My messages” (I had been looking under Chat/DMs, which seems to imply real-time functionality…?)
Something interesting that happened is that some links are broken and even in the code there’s no URL, just the broken link vector path. In this specific case, I know it’s because I had linked to screenshots uploaded to Discord, which no longer allows direct linking/the direct links time out.
Whatever happened here with the import, however, would make it difficult to track down what went missing if nobody happened to remember what had been included.

I looked into this yesterday and unfortunately there is not much we can do to fix this automatically/programmatically in the event that it’s emebedding a cached image in Xenforo that came from a third source. E.g; Discord.
The good news is users should be able to edit their own posts now. Thank you @linnaealyn for bringing that issue to my attention.
We also added some BB Code support. Editing and resaving a broken post should rebuild it to the best of Discourse’s ability; however, it does interpret some code differently so you may need to still manually edit.
We are in the process of trying to manually update important posts that have broken downloads and images. We did the Xenogears texture pack yesterday and the XenoComi thread is next. Please LMK if there are any other big ones that are broken, I am glad to fix them.
I’ll leave the old board up for a month after this is all done just in case, but it will be going away to save costs. So please let me know if there’s anything I need to try and back up or grab for anyone.
I’d like to get the status’ feature imported here but I am not sure if it’s supported at this time so if there was one you wanted to save I can DM it to anyone.

Thank you again for all your help! Some other things that come to mind:
- Do you know if it’s possible to import signatures/profile info? It doesn’t look like the Wayback Machine was able to grab the #about page of a user profile. Similarly, signatures in archived posts don’t seem to be displaying.
- Obviously I can just remake them, but I can’t remember exactly what I had
- Would the “embed from a third source” situation apply to Twitter? (I assume so)
- Some of the tweets from this thread are now gone; if the Xenforo cache actually still has information about them (text/images/etc), I’d be grateful!
- Is it possible to re-associate the migrated images with which user account uploaded them? I don’t remember exactly what I shared/what I would need to recover.
- On that same note, will this site list which files a user has shared? The images I posted in this thread (uploaded to this server) seem to be related to this thread only and don’t show up on my user profile. (Maybe that’s functioning as intended?)
- Is it possible for us to log back into the Xenforo forum at all, as end users?
- I wouldn’t mind handling some of this retrieval myself, but I understand if that’s no longer possible.

Hey! Sorry for being a little AWOL -
I went to Magfest and had a great time but unfortunately had to recover from a bit of bronchitis. I’m back though.
- Unfortunately since the signatures feature is completely different xenforo –> Discourse, I don’t think those are recoverable
- I am a bit limited about what I can grab from Twitter’s API as well since they don’t play nice anymore. I’ll screenshot the cached versions for you and DM.
- I think it would be cool if we could have it so the images and attachments folks have shared show up on their profile. This sounds doable and I’ll look into it as an addon.
- At the current time, the board is closed to prevent the wall of spammers, but I will see if I can spin up a way to simply make it read-only before the cutover. It is taking a little longer than expected and I know the gallery being offline has some questioning the status of things too.
- I’ll aim for the cutoff to be 30 days from whenever the new gallery site is up but I am going to aim for February to keep myself on track with it.
Quick update - Temporarily put old Godsibb back up but on read only so people can view it and get their stuff.
Hi again, thank you for doing this! I was able to save my about/signature/DMs. I can’t see my posts, though. Is that to prevent the spambots still?
Also, if you could use help covering server etc costs to keep it online a bit longer (I know you were hoping to have things handled by February) please let me know and I’d be happy to chip in.
