So, I have been reading some Sci-Fi Novels lately. Mainly some of them that inspired Tetsuya Takahashi to Xenogears and the rest of the Xeno series. I just recently finished Childhood’s End. Which if I were to guess, was the novel that mainly inspired Takahashi to create Xenogears (Along with 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, etc.) Childhood’s End is a book that I have constantly thought about after I finished. Many of its themes such as the combined consciousness and children with psychic powers is still a constant theme in the Xeno games. Also one of the major characters in Childhood’s End shares the same name with one of the villains in Xenogears. I really do think it goes pretty deep with its themes too and I recommend everyone reading this to check Childhood’s End out.
Currently, I am going through Nightfall right now. The reason is that I am using it to research for a future video on Xenoblade Genesis. It’s a slow burn, but the stuff in the book is really fascinating. This makes me wonder when I go through the book, has anyone read any of that inspired the Xeno series? Or has anyone read any Sci-Fi novels that the Xeno Series has inspired?
