I really think a lot about how Mikhail isn’t that different from the URTVs in a way–intense trauma as a child, basically being made into a weapon and having your childhood taken away from you, I just…have a lot of feelings I don’t know how to put into words.

Mikhail and the URTVs really deserved better.

Everything I know about Xenoblade I know by way of seeing Shulk briefly in Smash Bros but I keep seeing your fic like YES THEY DO DESERVE HUGS AND FRIENDS, EXCELLENT, A++++

I really can’t explain why this took me as long as it did. This and the next few chapters are basically montages of the URTVs growing up and the formation of the Kukai Foundation. I know what I want to write, I just am struggling to write it DX

Xenosaga spoilers

Soooo. This is going to stray far into headcanon territory, but I do think the anti-Red Dragon Drive measures Yuriev put in Gaignun and Citrine were basically Red Dragon Drives of their own. Because I don’t know how else to make sense of the powers they have.

The birthday scene is best listened to with something like The Last Stand from Final Fantasy XIV or Home from Undertale. Just a slightly goofy, mostly heartwarming scene of this found family giving these kids birthdays.

Citrine and Patroka becoming Blade and Driver is an idea I’ve had in the works for a while. I even have their art names ready to go!

Next chapter: hurt/comfort, Shelley and Mary finally enter the picture, and we get another name change!

Chapter 17 of Tornasaga is now available!

So I had an unwelcome realization when I saw that, in canon, Mary and Shelley don’t get rescued from the unknown pharmaceutical company until two years after the Miltian Conflict.

And we’re only coming up now on one year post-Conflict.

Oops.

Chapter 18 of Tornasaga is up! MAJOR XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 3: FUTURE REDEEMED SPOILERS.

Future Redeemed, huh?

When I started this fic, admittedly, all I really wanted to do was write Malos and Gaignun becoming a Driver-Blade duo and killing Yuriev. For shits and giggles.

I didn’t expect to have Malos be able to have a canon reason for him to hate Yuriev. Legit, I don’t even know how to put it into words, I’m still shocked.

God, though. All this makes me do is pity Klaus. And I hated Klaus! But now, if he was staring at both the Salvators/Saviorites trying to take the Zohar and the possibility of the war between the Ganglion and the Ghosts destroying Earth…suddenly, all I can do is pity him.

The title for this chapter was taking from Final Fantasy XIV. I go more into detail in the author’s notes proper, but it’s taken from two Endwalker tracks: Of Countless Stars and Stars Long Dead. If you know, you know.

…it’s hitting me while I write this that Meyneth/Galea may have never known the truth. Maybe she thought the Saviorites could be reasoned with. Maybe there was another way out of that situation.

But if Yuriev was at the helm this whole time, I could only see it ending in bloodshed.

I’M BACK. The fixation on Xenosaga has returned, and so has my spark for writing this series!

Chapter 19: lyrics come from dodie’s Ready Now, which you may or may not have heard from 2019’s Moominvalley! Summary: last pre-Episode 1 chapter, I jab at bad business practices, and my take on Gaignun’s hypno voice powers.

I know at some point I wanna create a side drabbles bit for the little ideas I have that may or may not make it into the fic proper. I headcanon that Gaignun struggles with migraines every now and then like I do, so I wanna do that!

Chapter 20: Lyrics for this and next two chapters come from NateWantsToBattle’s English cover of Mob Psycho 100’s 99! We’re finally at Episode 1, and the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I feel bad basically skipping over MOMO and Ziggy’s scenes, but I felt there wasn’t much that would change in this AU. I don’t feel bad skipping over the Woglinde stuff, and Vergil still eats shit courtesy of KOS-MOS. Lol. Lmao even.

I’ve had Cherenkov’s survival scene in the works for literal years now. The first draft was written all the way back in 2022, assuming I’m looking at the right place in my notes. I have big feelings about him and how mental illness is treated even thousands of years later.

Chapter 21: Junior and Mary attack the U-TIC mother ship, with a few key differences! Namely, that they’re going in at what’s probably about Level 60 compared to Level 10~12 in canon lol. Mikhail tries to bond with Cherenkov! And we start the Cathedral Ship section!

Unfortunately there’s some scenes I’m just gonna have to take kinda word for word, which makes me feel gross, but alas. I hope once we get out of this section and head closer to Episode 1’s endgame that I won’t have to copy dialogue from certain scenes.

Chapter 22 will be out this Thursday! It is ready to go, I just wanted to give some breathing room between chapters. In the meantime, I wrote a little ficlet:

pain, pain, go away - Xenosaga Episode III spoilers, song lyrics come from TOOBOE’s Itaino Itaino Tondeike! You may be familiar with him if you’ve watched Chainsaw Man! Best way I can summarize this fic: I push forward the slightly, potentially cracky ship idea of Wilhelm/Gaignun toward the Xenosaga AO3 tag. I don’t elaborate and leave. Brain suddenly put that out, and I decided to write it!

That should be everything on the Xenosaga side of writing. I’ve got some really fun ideas for later chapters in Tornasaga, and I can’t wait to share.

Not a whole lot to say. This chapter didn’t go exactly the way I planned, but it’s probably better this way. Related to the song of the chapter, I’ve been crackshipping Makima from Chainsaw Man with Gaignun in some kinda way. I think they’d at least make an interesting duo of some kind. I dunno!

Author’s commentary: I wanted Citrine to look similar, but distinct from Gaignun for her Foundation business attire. I…don’t know if I succeeded. I do headcanon she would be butch or at least butch-leaning if she ever wound up as part of the Kukai Foundation, so…-shrug-

It was my birthday yesterday, and I posted the chapter a little early as a present! We’re performing an encephalon dive into KOS-MOS to get footage to prove the Kukai Foundation did not shoot down the Woglinde!

I’ve honestly just had the “I’M BACK IN THE FUCKING BUILDING AGAIN?!” meme in my head while writing this chapter. Malos would not like to go back to the Miltian Conflict please.
