So I’ve been a Xenosaga fan since I saw a commercial for Episode 1 on my VCR recording of an episode of Inuyasha that aired too late for me to stay up and watch. Got Episode 2 and was profoundly disappointed.
Preordered Episode III was profoundly happy.
Somewhere in here I got Xaenogears and loved it.
And taht’s the story of my JRPG loves. I basically do just replay all the games I experienced as a teenager. I play some newer ones on occasion but very rarely. I’ve played FFVII-X for so long now, usually with mods or hacks to change things up, but I still just stick with them as I’m a creature of habit.
That and modern FF and Xeno don’t care about us turn-based fans. But hey, maybe someday… Maybe someday Square will remember all their most popular and beloved games were basically turn-based.
This has been old man rants at clouds. I’m glad to meet you all.
Welcome to the board, Nikkolas, it’s great to see another longtime fan. I bet that VCR ad was aesthetic af.
Please feel free to post and make yourself at home.
I definitely feel this way as well. I eventually got used to Xenoblade but turn-based is where my heart is. I want to see those more serious turn-based games make a comeback.
Do you remember which one it was? That’d be fascinating to see.
Welcome! I feel like I’ve fallen woefully behind on trying to keep up with whatever’s going on in gaming, so I feel you there. For me it’s difficult to track all the motion going on on-screen with newer games, and it feels exhausting after a while.
